When is it? From Sunday 23rd of October until Saturday 29th of October.
Where is it? On the Jesus Trail, you will walk from Nazareth to Capernaum, on the Northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. On the Three Seas Challenge, you will cycle from Tel Aviv to Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus.
What is it for? We are seeking to expand our Pastoral Care Team with local and international volunteers. The Pastoral Care Team is currently run by a core team of five people and several volunteers. We would like to recruit and train ten more local volunteers to serve with us once or twice a week. In addition, we would like to bring in Christians with ministry experience from abroad to support our Pastoral Care Team on a voluntary basis. If we succeed, we will start expanding our services to the evenings and weekends.
Why is it important? The Pastoral Care Team at the Nazareth Hospital provides much-needed emotional and spiritual support for staff, patients, students and visitors, while also supporting COVID-19 patients by visiting them in the wards. Their service includes patient and staff visits, home visits, events, prayers for the organisation, prayers over new services and departments and training on various issues in order to promote spiritual wellbeing.
COVID-19 had and continues to have a substantial impact on the Nazareth community. The Pastoral Care Team has been crucial to mitigate the effects of isolation and anxiety as people were navigating through such difficult and lonely times. Therefore, expanding the Pastoral Care Team is essential to deal with the high demand for spiritual support within the hospital.
