SERVErs leave after their summer in Nazareth

Sunday marked the last full day of our SERVE team being in Nazareth. As a celebration of their time here, we held a special service together with people from their placements, to join together in fellowship.

The chapel was filled with friends of the participants and it was great to see people from Nazareth and Nazareth Illit coming to worship together with us, in celebration of all God has done this summer.

Each of the participants gave a short testimony of their time here and received gifts as a thank you for all their hard work.

SERVE Nazareth at camp!

At the start of July, SERVE Nazareth had the privilege to work with the ministry of CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship).

CEF camps are annual events that run through the summer, with the aim to teach and encourage kids in their relationship with God while having activities and games throughout. 80 children signed up to come and enjoy water games, table games, football, drama, crafts, arts, sciences and much more. The children’s excitement and enthusiasm were also seen during the week in the Bible group teachings and the worship meetings.

SERVE Nazareth Prep week at Meadgate Church and new administrators

Greetings from Nazareth!

This summer's SERVE participants have just arrived after having been in preparation for the last 3 months before their departure for Israel. They have raised funds, created support structures for their time here, and undertaken our preparation course. The Preparation course includes 3 areas of development- language study, cultural awareness, and spiritual growth. Participants also get to know each other in an online forum, building friendships before meeting face to face. All of this serves to prepare each participant before they even get to Nazareth.

Nazareth Hospital EMMS Opens new Cancer Research Centre

We are delighted to announce the opening of our new Cancer Research Centre in the Hospital on Friday 13th May 2011 - the first such centre of its kind in the whole of Israel.

It was a great pleasure to welcome the Brazilian Ambassador, Her Excellency Maria Elisa Berenguer, as well as the Director of the Holy Family Hospital, a large number of doctors, researchers and the President of the Society of Friends of the Nazareth Hospital in Canada, Najla Sakran.

Glasgow Pilgrimage supports the Nazareth Hospital

In April, Glasgow churches visited the Nazareth Hospital EMMS as part of their 2011 Pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

The group of pilgrims listened to a presentation about the history of the Hospital and its development into the Hospital today, before presenting the Hospital management a donation £870.

The group enjoyed a time of prayer together with Hospital staff in the Chapel.

The Hospital management and all the staff enjoyed the visit and appreciated the generosity of the 2011 Pilgrimage very much.
