TOP OF THE CLASS

Congratulations to one of our students, Naseem Odeh, who achieved the second highest degree score in Israel.

What’s more remarkable about this outstanding achievement is that Naseem’s mother tongue is Arabic and the exam is in Hebrew.

Naseem was marginally beaten by a student who achieved 91% but whose mother tongue is also Hebrew.

What SERVE has meant to me...

For me, SERVE Nazareth has been all about the mountains. We quite literally spent a lot of time on mountains, including Mt. Precipice, Mt. Tabor, Mt. Arbel, and the Mount of Beatitudes; even Nazareth itself is built into the hills. However, SERVE has been somewhat of a spiritual mountaintop experience as well. The song “Mountain” by Steven Curtis Chapman became my SERVE theme song. If you’ve never heard it, some of the lyrics are:

My faith is strengthened by all that I see
You make it easy for me to believe up on the mountain

You bring me up here on this mountain

A FOND FAREWELL BUT NOT GOODBYE

After ten years of committed service, John Vartan, great grandson of the Hospital’s founder, Dr P K Vartan, has stepped down as a Trustee.

However, John has pledged to continue to be involved with the charity in a fundraising and Ambassadorial role, presenting to various organisations on the charity’s behalf.

He said, “The Nazareth Trust and the Hospital remain very special to me and I will continue to work on behalf of the charity. However, I was keen not to be travelling just so often to Nazareth and thought it timely after ten years to pass on the role to someone new.”

NAZARETH TRUST – NOW PART OF THE FUNDRAISING STANDARDS BOARD

Nazareth Trust has joined other leading UK charities and signed up to the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) to assure friends and supporters of the organisation’s high standard of policies and procedures.

The FRSB is an independent, self-regulatory scheme, which aims to ensure that organisations raising money for charity from the public do so with good practice and openness. The Fundraising Standards Board is supported by the UK Office for Civil Society, The Scottish Government and the Welsh Assembly Government.
