October is the season of olives and pomegranates and as we welcome these fruits, we are also excited to see the fruit God brings out in the lives of those who have been through the SERVE Nazareth programme.

It is a wonderful privilege to be part of the process of change which we have seen in our former participants. Here are what some of them have said in their own words:

Temitope, 2010

“Being in SERVE allowed me not only to learn ways of loving and serving people, but it showed me that we can really only do so because we, ourselves, are tremendously loved by a Father unlike any other.

Growing up, I never enjoyed talking to God much. I knew he loved me and I loved him as well but he was more like a distant parent than a loving and kind one. I started to learn more about what God asks of us, who He really is, and the abounding, deep, whole, and complete love He rains on us daily. I learned this through the affection showed to me by God’s own people in Nazareth.”

Margaret, 2011

“Nazareth has been a bit of an eye-opener in all sorts of ways- until I came here, I’d no idea that there were so many Arab Christians, in Israel. I’ve felt very loved, respected and as a stranger, welcomed into many, many homes; we know that from the Bible, when we as Christians are welcomed into a home, it is not us who are welcomed but the one who has sent us.”

Sapphire and Shanda

Sapphire and Shanda have just arrived in Nazareth, from the USA and South Africa. Sapphire is a frequent visitor to Israel and Shanda has been here once before. They are both expectant of what God has planned for their time here as they spend time in the Nazareth Village, CEF and the Hospital.

Shanda writes: “It is an honour and a privilege to be here, to know that this is where Jesus grew up. I am so excited to experience what God has planned for me. Everything is new, different and interesting – the people, the culture, the history. Each day is a new day with many exciting adventures and a truly wonderful journey with God.”

Sapphire explains her desire “To give, to receive, to walk in a greater understanding of the people, their needs and to express love.” As she comes to Nazareth for the first time she says “I want to experience my purpose for being here from His perspective.”

We pray for each of them as they settle in their month in Nazareth and ask that God will richly bless them, their friendships here and all those they serve during their time here.
