As we head into the Christmas season with SERVE Nazareth, we are reminded of Jesus’ example to us as a servant Himself. Isaiah prophesies about God’s servant in chapter 42:
"Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth.
He will not fail nor be discouraged,
Till He has established justice in the earth;
And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
As we are called to be His servants, we want to follow His example, even more so as we minister in His town!
In January we anticipate the arrival of our newest SERVE Nazareth people – and we ask for your prayers for them as they come here and settle in. All of our people have assignments as they come here, the main one being to build relationships and encourage others in their walk with God. We are excited to welcome a new set of people for this and ask you to join with us all, as we pray for the relationships which will be built, that they would be used by God and be fruitful in many lives.
As we welcome people, we are also preparing ourselves for the next group through the summer. We are delighted as to how this is coming together and remind you all that there is still time to apply for this amazing opportunity.
We are also launching our SERVE Nazareth fund, in support of those who would like to come and SERVE with us, but need that little bit of extra support. We have seen how God works in people’s lives as they take the opportunity to SERVE Him and we want to make this available to more people. The fund we have established is intended solely for this purpose and will provide small monetary awards to help applicants cover their time here. You can contribute to this fund online, at www.justgiving.com/SERVEscholarships and also by texting (UK only) “SERV49” followed by the amount you wish to donate (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10) to 70070.
Our hearts this Christmas are with all those who would SERVE – who would follow the path of the Servant King. Have a wonderful Christmas season!
