The hospital was delighted to welcome a work group of 10 volunteers from Meadgate Church, Chelmsford, UK, under the leadership of Rev Mones Farah. The group helped in the July heat by painting and doing maintenance work in the hospital canteen and in the Emergency Room among other places

We were also privileged to have their participation in the spiritual activities of the hospital by leading the weekly English Sunday service with Sally Farah speaking and Andrew Brown leading worship.

On Monday 27 July the group, in partnership with chaplain Rev Suheil Bathish, also held a special service of prayer and praise for hospital staff, volunteers, students and friends.

Rev Mones Farah spoke on Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian in Acts 8: 26 – 40, focusing on Philip’s enthusiasm to pass on the gospel and his willingness to be used by God.

The worship was led by Andrew Brown, Mark Petitt and Elizabeth Farah, with testimonies shared by three members of the party who are doctors: Dr June Vittle, Dr Godfrey Harverson and Dr Angela Harverson.

Volunteer groups come to contribute to the work of the hospital by supporting staff and undertaking work which would otherwise have to be contracted for.

Their work not only assists the hospital in financial terms but provides a very real opportunity to show support and encourage the staff of the hospital in both practical and spiritual ways.

Groups are encouraged to take part in the chapel services at the hospital and to continue to pray for the hospital and its work.
