For the second year the hospital was host for a week to the happy chaos of 70 kids attending a Joy Summer Camp.

The camp was organized by the Hospital Spiritual Services Committee in partnership with Child Evangelism Fellowship and Kids’ Games.

The children, mainly the families of hospital staff and their friends, were looked after by the CEF team and a team of volunteers from the US. Helpers included hospital volunteers and volunteers from the local community.

The five days of the camp were packed with activities, beginning with a time of worship together after which they rotated through three different activities: bible study, an interactive presentation about a chosen country and water games.

This was followed by a short break for breakfast and drinks, and then with two more activities chosen by the children - including cooking, football, basketball, cup stacking, music, crafts, drama, table tennis, photography, to mention a few, all on the hospital compound!

The camp gave children the chance to learn more about Jesus, with the opportunity for prayer with camp leaders on request.

The teaching sessions were entitled, “I am the Good Shepherd”, “I am the Light of the World”, “I am the Bread of Life”, “I am the Resurrection and the Life” and “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”.

The last day saw the departure of the volunteer team from the US and also the closing party for the children.

The party gave an opportunity for the parents to see what the children had learned in the week of the camp. It included songs, photographs, a sketch prepared by the children, a display of crafts and a demonstration of cup stacking.

The camp will be followed by the Good News club, which is due to begin again at the beginning of October.
