The evening of Sunday 8 February 2009 saw an exciting new initiative which brought together Nazarene Christians from all backgrounds to pray for Jesus' home town.
The Chapel at the Nazareth Hospital EMMS was host to the first EMMS Nazareth, Prayer for Nazareth Meeting.
Leaders were invited from all the many Churches in Nazareth, as well as from Christian schools, convents and the other hospitals.
Around 34 attendees came - from all the various denominations - Greek Orthodox, Melkite, Roman Catholic as well as the Protestant Churches.
The event was both solemn and filled with much joy, as all shared together in prayer (in Arabic, English and Russian) for Nazareth and for each other, and agreed their intention to meet each month.
The evening was led by Chief Executive Joseph Main along with Hospital Chaplain Rev Suheil Bathish, with translation by Rev Ibrahim Sima'an.
